It was a wild and crazy dual between two teams that are very familiar with each other. Coming into tonight’s matchup Lisbon had won both of the meetings earlier this year, but Alburnett would have their revenge winning on criteria, 32-31. Head coach Clayton Rush’s strategy to bump senior captains Conner Shulista and Bryce Paul paid off, with both getting falls at 160 and 170 pounds respectively. Despite suffering an upset at 106 where Cobe Siebrecht defeated state qualifier Jaymus Wilson, Alburnett was able to get wins from Mason Wickman (113), Ben Moyer (120), and Drake Halblom (132) in the last six weights. It’s a fitting end for Alburnett’s senior class, who were apart of the 2013 Alburnett team that won the state duals title as freshmen.
